I finally decided to play an Imperial army, Grey Knights. Having purchased the Grey Knight Codex to find out what shenanigans my Daemons would have to endure, I started becoming interested in a Draigowing list.

Here is a small portion of the army:

Venerable Psyfleman/DreadKnight:

I bought the DreadKnight thinking it would be awesome, and it is, but unless you field 2, the one tends to die quickly. I loved the kit though and wanted to be able to use it in more than just a friendly game. So with some simple modifications, I can use it as a Venerable Psyfleman Dreadnought.

Daemons of Chaos

As you have seen from my other armies, I like duel-purpose armies (Eldar=Dark Eldar, High Elves=Dark Elves), so an army that I could use in Fantasy & 40K was too much for me to resist. I will have all 4 Chaos Gods represented in my army

Bloodthirster of Khorne:

I used my old Balrog conversion to make this. I switched the wings and added a khorne symbol. I then added arms from the new plastic Daemon Prince

Fateweaver (Fantasy only):

Again I used parts from the plastic Daemon Prince, the heads are Dark Elf Cold One heads with greenstuff beaks. The tail is made from a wire covereg in hot glue.

Heralds of Tzeentch on Burning Chariots:

The Herald is a Bloodletter that has been modified. The chariots are just plastic sharks with Daemon bitz on them drawing an upside down flying stand base with fire added to it. They are magnetized for storeage and Fantasy (if the Herard or Chariot dies before the other).

Handmaidens of Khorne (or Bloodletterettes):

These are Daemonettes converted to be used as Bloodletters in 40K. I wanted to use only Daemonettes for my Core/Troops, but Bloodletters are such a better choice in 40K that I had to convert them. This way I can have the models that attracted to play Daemons, but use the stats of the units that will keep me playing. Also note that my icon/musicians are actually Bloodletters to help avoid confusion in-game.

Plaquebearers with BSB Herald on Palanquin(for Fantasy):

Aside from the command models, I wanted to use Plaguemonks as my Plague bearers. These are my only Core units in Fantasy, so I have ALOT of them. The work great as objective grabbers in 40K as well.

Flesh Hounds of Khorne:

These are simply Chaos Warhounds with the left-over Bloodletter horns and Daemonette tails from my other conversions.

Flamers of Tzeentch:

These are made from plastic Bloodletters & greenstuff (mostly hot glue). The flames are hair bitz from various kits.

Fiends of Slaanesh:

I used Tyranid Gaunt bodies with Daemonette Champion claws. I wanted more feminine centaur-like Fiends. The Unholy might Fiend for 40k is made from a Seeker.

Soulgrinders (40k only). For these I wanted to have something from all gods. The red muscles and scales are of Khorne, the green slime and boils are of Nurgle, the purple claws is of Slaanesh, and the blue flaming soul/sprite is of Tzeentch:

These are WOW Murlocs hacked up and glued to Defiler/Soul grinder spare bitz. The flame sprite is a Hero clix. I used Testors plastic cement to make the drool & puss.

Nurgle Prince (40K only):

Again I use the plastic Daemon Prince bitz. The tail is made the same as Fateweavers.

Phoenix Corsairs (part 2): Fate of the Aspects

As mentioned in Part 1, Aspect Warriors captured by Dark Eldar are favoured for the Wych arenas & Incubi shrines. Forced to be the prey in their ceremonies & spectacles, Aspect Warriors can no longer take off the War-mask of their psyche. Aspects that survive for long find themselves becoming Dark Eldar. Those that rarely earn enough respect can be bought as mercenaries during real-space raids.

The Phoenix Corsairs deal exclusively with these former Aspects. Buying their services from the Wych cults & Incubi, the Phoenix Corsairs often find ways to enlist the Aspects permanently. Though they can never return to Craftworld life, working as Corsairs seems more preferred to captivity in Commorragh.

Succubus w/ Agoniser (Dark Eldar only):

This is the Lileth model with an Agoniser & Eldar power weapon. The fluff for her is that she was once a Howling Banshee Exarch, but was captured and forced to fight in the Wych arenas. After surviving for so long she earned a bit of prestige among the Wyches. Learning from the Wyches and training in secret, this "Banshee Succubus" rallied the other Aspect captives in a revolt that lead to their freedom as mercenaries for the Saim-Hann Corsairs. She still wears the little remaining pieces of her Banshee armour as a reminder to all fellow fallen Aspects.

Wyches (Dark Eldar only):

Banshees are almost always captured for the Wych Arenas, thus why they now fight like Wyches. These models are converted from old DE Warriors w/ Deamonette heads & Black Ark Corsair weapons. The 2 Hekatrix are made from the new Raider passengers & new Agonisers.

Fire Dragon Trueborn (Eldar & Dark Eldar):

Made from old Warrior Splinter cannon models and painted as Fire Dragons.

Scorpion Incubi (Dark Eldar only):

I used Kabalite Warriors, old Raider blades, old Warrior plumes & chaos warhound scorpion tails.

The backstory for these guys is that they are former Striking Scorpions that were captured and taken as slaves. Favored by the Incubi, they were used in many Incubi training rituals. Those that survived for long became tainted with bloodlust. On one of the Phoenix Corsairs' trading expeditions into Commorragh, many of the surviving Scorpions were enlisted as mercenaries.

No longer able to return as noble Aspect Warriors, the Scorpions wear Incudi armour adorned with scorpion tails as a symbol of their former lives. Forever part of the Phoenix Corsairs.

Raiders (Dark Eldar only):

I took my old Raider, gave them an updated look and added some sails.

Venoms (Dark Eldar only):

Converted form the new DE Reavers, Eldar bike canopies, Raider sails & other bits to make a more "chariot" style Venom to add to the Corsair feel.

Raider/Ravager (Dark Eldar only):

I had to get at least 1 of the new Raiders. It carries my Incubi. I also magnetized side gunners for it to be my Disintegrator Ravager (I couldn't wait for the actual Ravager kit).

Phoenix Corsairs (part 1)

With the new Dark Eldar codex exploding with new fluff & rules, I decided it would be a good time for an army-wide revamp. I have been playing Eldar since mid-4th ed. and then 1-2 years later I started playing Dark Eldar (late 4th ed).

Backstory:
My army is a Corsair fleet that was formally a Wild Rider Clan from Saim-Hann. Too wild-tempered and foolhardy even for Saim-Hann, the young Pheonix Clan set out on a self-imposed exile form their Craftworld home, eventually growing large enough to be called a small Corsair fleet.

After some time during their exile, the Phoenix Corsairs found themselves often taking port in Commorragh, trading supplies and enlisting mercenaries for their Raids. They often trade for Eldar slaves in order to free them & return them to their homes.

When Dark Eldar take Eldar slaves, Aspect warriors are taken to the Wych arenas and Incubi Shrines, for what better quarry is to be had than fellow warrior Eldar. Former Aspect warriors freed by the Corsairs are often tainted by their time spent in Commoragh, behaving in a more primal way. Banshees act more like Wyches, Scorpions like Incubi, Fire Dragons like Trueborn, Dire Avengers like Kabalite Warriors, etc. These warriors are more likely to join the Corsairs as they can no longer take part in Craftworld society.

In this way, the Phoenix Corsair fleet grows and becomes stronger, yet forms into something that exists between Eldar & Dark Eldar; never able to return to their Craftworld homes, nor able to fit in with Commorrite society.

To update the army, I got a few new kit and used the bitz on a few select models. It has been a HUGE project and I am only half way thru, but here is what I have so far.

Farseers w/ singing spears (Eldar only):

Both are extensive conversions. As to their fluff, Farseers would tend to not survive Commorragh and thus, these Farseers are those that were fortunate enough to stay in Saim-Hann and were reunited with the Clan once they escaped.

Warlocks on Jetbikes (Eldar only):

Converted mostly out of Shining Spears. The middle "Witch" is just that, a Wych. She is my Enhance Warlock, but instead on using a Warlock power to boost the squad, she uses drugs.

Haemonculi w/ Liquifier guns & Venom blades (Dark Eldar only):

Converted using Daemonette torsos, Dark Elf heads & Wraithlord hands. These would be the overseers of the Craftworlder while they were enslaved.

Jetbikes (Eldar & Dark Eldar):

I usually run 2 units of 6, with either 2 Shuricannons or 2 Blasters depending on the Army.

Kabalite Avengers (Eldar & Dark Eldar):

Converted from Gaudians, though these are Dire Avengers/Kabalite Warriors.

Dire Avenger Exarch (Eldar only)
& Kabalite Warriors w/ Blasters (Dark Eldar only):

Painting in the true Avenger scheme, they make the Avenger Squads look WYSIWYG. The Blaster models below, are also WYSIWYG are from the new Kabalite plastic kit. As I only bought 1 kit to "springle in" bitz throughout my collection, I had to get creative to make 2 Blaster models that stand out.

Eldar Tanks (Eldar only):

Top: Scatter laser Wave Serpents
Middle: Bright lance Wave Serpent/Night Spinner
Bottom: Fire Prims
All tanks are fully magnetized.

Vyper/Ravagers (Eldar & Dark Eldar):

I simply made a front armour piece that slide on to make the Vypers bigger & add the guns. The Vypers have Scatter lasers or Missle launchers, the Ravagers have Dark lances. In the fluff the Vypers are some of the few pieces of Eldar tech, the clan could salvage. They then added amour plates and extra weapons.

WarWalkers (Eldar only):

Middle Walker has Missles, the side Walkers have Scatters.

Objectives & Webway Portal:

I had to make the portal myself since GW sold out of them in their first 12hrs.

WraithTalos & Harlequins

I have always wanted to make a WraithLord int a Talos, as if the Haemonculi captured one, tortured & broke the dead eldar spirit the powers the wraith-construct and formed it into a Talos-like skimmer. Here is what I came up with:

With Dark Eldar getting access to Harlequins & since I play Eldar & Dark Eldar, I thought it was time to convert some of my own:

I wanted a mime-style paint scheme and since Harequins are the rockstars of the Eldar race, I painted 4 of them as Harlequin's "KISS".

COMING SOON: With Dark Eldar on the horizon, I will be revamping most of my army, so I though it would be a good time to retake pictures of the entire army. This will be a 2-3 part series starting in the next few weeks.

The 1st part will be mostly older models that have had some re-converted parts and mostly just Eldar.

The 2nd part will be a few weeks after the release of Dark Eldar and will showcase the new models I will incorporate into my army.

If I do a 3rd part, it will be whatever I have left or haven't thought of yet, but once the 1st & 2nd parts have been posted, I will be deleting all previous Eldar & Dark Eldar posts (save the Titan & Void Dragon post).

Hive Fleet GREEN Locust

Hive Fleet Red Locust has been comsumed by a new Hive Fleet. All its strengths have been assimilated into Hive Fleet Green Locust!

After having to sell my original Nid army for rent (having no job sucks), GW just HAD to release a flashy new book for them. This was just as well because most of my old army wouldn't have worked in the new book. Once I got a job I started building them back up and this let me explore a new scheme. I also themed all my conversions to include more insect-like abdomens.

I decided to study the 3 existing GW paint schemes: Behemeth, Kraken & Leviathan. All 3 share the following: Lighter chitin than carapce, Carapace is always based black and then highlit up to its color, Yellow eyes. Once I had this down and the fact that Nids work so well with washes, I decided to go with Green chitin and Orange Carapace.

Hive Tyrant with magnetized wings:

This is my old Tyrant(the only model I did not sell). It is made of Fex parts, Tyrant arms and Balrog wings.

Tyrannofex:

This is a T-rex toy with Fex bits on it.

Guants & Gargoyles:

Most of these are not finished, but here are my starting examples. Notice the alternate 'fleshborers' on the right-side Gaunts. This is to help pick out different units.

Mycetic Spores (for Zoanthropes mainly):

These are paper-mache eggs with hot glue & Nid-bitz.

The Following are unfinished (painting), but any conversions are fully assembled. I finally got all of them painted to a point that they just need the detail work (carapace, eyes, claws & teeth, etc).

Tervigons:

Using plastic dinos as a frame-work, I used Fex & Trygon bitz to make these. I also used paper-mache eggs for the abdomen swolen with Gaunts.

Trygons:

I used bitz from the Tyrgon, Mawloc and Prime to make these look how I wanted.

Zoan & Venomthropes:

I replaced the front arms of the Venomthropes with claws, so I could use the Lashwhips for other conversions. The Zoanthropes are made from Hormagaunts with Trygon Prime/Mawloc crests. The dorsal vents are from the Mawloc.

Hive Guard:

Simple conversions made from Warrior bodies, Gaunt heads with greenstuff over the eyes, and Barb stranglers with fleshhooks.

Warriors and Prime

Since I started with the Nid battle force and used all my Warriors for Hive/Tyrant Guard and wasn't planning on using the 'Stealers, I used their bodies with the left over Warrior Heads & scything talons to make more sleek, gangly Warriors. The Prime is a Warrior with an 3rd ed ravaner face, pistacio shell shoulder carapace, lashwhip tongue & boneswords. The abdomen is a Trygon Prime chest carapace over lots of greestuff

Tyrant Guard/Primes:

Mostly used as Gaurd, but make good alternate Tyranid Primes, these conversions use Warrior bodies/rending claws, Venomthrope lashwhips, Gargoyle heads and boneswords made from upside down scything talons with Dark Eldar vehicle blades glued to them. Again the shoulder are pistacio shells.

Skink-Guants:

In an effort to have different-looking Guants for Tervigons, I use Lizardmen Skink with fleshborers. They can be said to be "not fully formed" guants.

I've always loved the Forge World Eldar Revenant Titan and always wanted to convert one. I could never find an action figure or anything to start as a base for a convertion, but since I have been combining Eldar and Dark Eldar models for my Phoenix Clan Army, it finally hit me to convert a "Dark" Eldar Revenant. I figure if DE would use any of the Eldar Titans, it would be the smallest, fastest one. So after piecing together various Lego Bionicle pieces, poster board and GW bitz, I have this:

It's far from being painted as I have a few more bitz to put on it, but the construction of it is 95% complete. It will of course be painted like the rest of my Phoenix Clan (see Farseer on base)

I finally got a Slann after playing Suarus based lists for so long. It was difficult to decide on how to paint him as I had 3 schemes in mind. In the end I decided to go with all 3 schemes, painting the Slann like a fire-bellied toad, his attendant as a red-eyed treefrog and the little frogs on his palanquin like poison-dart frogs. I also painted the lizards on his palanquin like blue-tailed skinks and the snake as a coral snake.

Did more conversions for Saurus & Skink characters on foot.

To-Neh of the TygraHuan:

To-Neh of the TygraHuan was spawned in the temple city of Tlaxtlan, City of the Moon. The eve that To-Neh emerged from his spawning pool, the Silver Moon of the world was clouded by a yellow-orange haze. The Skink Priest astromancers of Tlaxtlan saw this as an omen they call TygraHuan, or the Tyger Moon, so named for the cat-like jungle beasts that hunt more fiercely during such celestial events.

Like all Saurus Leaders, To-Neh was spawned alone signifying his destiny as a great warrior. With the Great Catastrophe that brought Chaos into the world and the Chaos Moon, the City of Tlaxtlan dwindled in power. To-Neh lead many small battles to defend the city during these times, but mysteriously disappeared during a TygraHuan.

Legend says that To-Neh was invoked by the TygraHuan to hunt down the minions of Chaos just as the tygers of the jungle hunt their prey, silently stalking them, waiting for the right time to pounce.

Recent tales have begun to speak of a jungle predator stalking the jungles near Tlaxtlan and an increase of the yellow-orange haze causing more TygraHuan events. Some say To-Neh has returned, gathering his army and searching for an long lost treasure that has the power to finally dispel the Chaos Moon so that the astromancers of Tlaxtlan can finally decipher the Old Ones great plan.

UPDATE: I changed my Scar-vet to be magnetized as a Battle Standard bearer, or even an OldBlood on the Horned One. I also altered my jaguar Charm Saurus (new feathers, more decoration on feet, different weapon, etc.

High/Dark Elf army

I am starting a duel-use army of models that will use rules for High Elves & Dark Elves. The backstory will be that they are not High nor Dark Elves, but a small faction of what used to be High Elves that fled Uthuan during the sunddering. They felt that Malekith was the rightful Pheonix king, but were conflicted by his betrayal. So they moved just North of Lustria to avoid the inevitable conflict.

Most of these Elves were originally from Caledor and took many Dragon eggs with them to raise in secret. Concealed from the world by simple illusion spells, they raised young Draklings and waited for their High Elf and Dark Elf brethern to end their war.

Then the unthinkable happened; A High Elf Noble and a Dark Elf Sorcerous concieved children together. The nature of their relationship is unknown, but what is known is that the Noble and the Sorcerous disappeared from their respective homelands of Uthuan and Naggaroth.

Centuries later, a new band of Elves began to appear out the the forests of the new world. They rode upon horse-sized Draklings and were lead by Warriors on Dragons. These Elves had qualites fo both High and Dark elves. It seems that the children of the Noble and Sorcerous had found the "Drakling" Elves and with their influence, they convinced the Drakling Elves to come out of hiding and restore the Elven race to its rightful glory.

Whether they mean to do this by uniting the High Elves and Dark elves peacfully is unknown. The Drakling Elves have seemed eager to ally with either army, yet this has also lead to many battles against both armies as well.

Well, enough on fluff, on to models.

I finished my Necron army and added so Apocalypse stuff too. I also gave my Tomb World a name: Emerald V

I converted a Trygon out of a Fex some time ago and had the legs left over. Not wanting bits to go to waste, I racked my brain trying to figure out what to use them for. Then it hit me! Use magnets and have a CC Fex or a Tyrgon.

Alien vs. Predator conversions

I've always thought that many of the races in 40K take their roots in other Sci-Fi sources. In these conversions, I take that idea a little further. The Aliens are Gaunts with 'stealer heads and claws and the Predators are Kroot with lots of green stuff.
